Missouri is a confusing state. We are technically in the midwest, but the southern portion is southern and the northern portion is northern or midwestern. I live as southern as you can get in the state. I can throw a rock and hit an Arkansan. Missourians will complain about Arkansas drivers, but we all know that they are very hospitable. The south-central Missouri culture replicates the midsouth or the southern culture. That's probably why I moved south for 10 years of my life. It's home. All of that is to say that my granny is NOT a southern bell. She's a yankee. She's in your face. She talks blunt and sometimes aggressive. She is stubborn. I don't mean a little stubborn like a spoiled-little-girl-stubborn. I mean stubborn like a mule during mating season stubborn. She is opinionated. She also believes her opinions are correct 98% of the time.
She's strong. Mentally and emotionally -- she is very strong. I don't even remember the last time I saw her cry. She's not hard-hearted, she's just a very strong woman. When I get emotional about things in my life I think to myself, WWGD (What Would Granny Do). That literally helps me keep it together. There have been many times that I've had to trigger my inner Granny.
She's sick right now. Really sick... like ICU sick. If it were anyone else, I would probably be freaking out. However, she's strong. Granny's a mule. She's too stubburn to...
God's got this. He's got our yankee.
