Life’s Not Fair

beclean.jpg Life’s not fair. Seriously. Babies shouldn’t get the ‘c’ word. Point blank. Little girls shouldn’t have 2 surgeries in 2 weeks before she turns 1 year old. LJ shouldn’t have an incision on her booty and a hole in her chest with a tube coming out. Really.

But do you know what else isn’t fair? – the fact that we have the most amazing friends and family. Not everyone has that. Not everyone can come home to a miraculous clean house (even shampooed carpet!).

Not everyone can say that someone has anonymously paid our propane bill. Not everyone has balloons, cards, gift baskets, food, snacks, etc. delivered to their hospital room.

Not everyone in our situation has countless facebook messages of encouragement in their inboxes. Not everyone has thousands of prayers going up. My little girl does. It’s just not fair. Thank God life isn’t fair.

Here’s an update:

  • WE ARE HOME

    MedicineMan.jpg

  • We go back for Cycle #2 on March 24.
  • I am married to a nurse now.

Lucy Jo sighed as soon as I put her in her car seat before we left the hospital parking garage today. She never whined or whimpered as I sat her down on her booty (where the incision is). She never flinched when I buckled her in over her broviac.

She stared at me with her big blue eyes. Her shoulders almost slouched as the vehicle started moving. She was expressionless as we left the parking garage and hit the sunlight. She took a big deep breath. It was almost as if she said, “It’s finally over,” with her eyes.

As she exhaled her eyes shut. She literally slept all the way from St. Louis to West Plains (approximately 4 hours). She slept more sound than I have seen her sleep EVER.

When we arrived at home, my little girl became a “normal” baby again. She crawled. She laughed. She ate. Now she’s sleeping – in her crib – in her room – in our house.

Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you;

The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace. (NKJV)
